Please feel free to email me if you cannot find the answer to your question.
Counselling is a talking therapy in which the counsellor provides a supportive and confidential space for the client to explore and work through any personal issues they may be experiencing. Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of counselling. It is the safety of this connection which enables clients to explore their thoughts and feelings and feel empowered to make changes in their life if they so wish.
Sessions are 40 minutes for children and 50 minutes for adults, and are normally scheduled on the same day at the same time each week. I would recommend a minimum of 6-12 sessions but there is no obligation to book a set number in advance.
Sessions may be cancelled by phone or email. All missed sessions and sessions cancelled within 24hrs of the scheduled time must be paid for in full.
On very rare occasions I may need to cancel a session at short notice, in which case there is no charge.
Payment is made 24 hours in advance preferably by bank transfer. I review my fees once a year, usually in July, and will provide you with at least three weeks’ notice of fee changes.
Yes the service is confidential. The exception being if you pose a risk to yourself or others but this would be discussed with you during the session. We will go over confidentiality in the first session to make sure that you are completely happy. You may also find it helpful to read my confidentiality policy.
I am available to you at your scheduled appointment time only. In the case of an emergency you will need to seek other resources. Contact your GP, the Samaritans (call 116 123, www.samaritans.org), or, if necessary, emergency services.
