I qualified as a therapist in 2019, gaining a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, which means my practice is bound by an Ethical Framework, ensuring a professional counselling relationship and service for all clients. I pride myself on my strong awareness of the importance for discreet and respectful communication with my clients.
In July 2023 I gained a Level 5 qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, enabling me to incorporate CBT and person centred counselling to work with my clients on a variety of mental health conditions whilst keeping the therapeutic relationship at the heart of the work.
Before starting my own practice, I worked for a private company offering counselling to children and young people in schools across Sussex; and I was a volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Care from 2017 until 2022 working with both adults and children. In 2019 I qualified as a Youth Mental Health First Aider, with MHFA England.
Other professional experience includes a one year counselling placement with Pace2Be, at a school in East Croydon and three years as a Family School Link worker, at a Primary School in Sussex. These roles involved offering emotional and practical support to families with children experiencing a variety of issues; including complex special educational needs, developmental trauma and attachment issues. I also have extensive experience of working holistically with external agencies.
In 2002, I gained a First Class Honours Degree in Photography and I still have a keen interest in taking photographs, mostly of my three young children with whom I live in Sussex. I also enjoy yoga and running in my spare time.
